Horn Slide Puller

The horn has nine tuning slides, of which six are very similar. The horn’s slide removing tool has two handles. One is a cup that cradles and ratchets off the rotary valves of the instrument with a simple twisting motion; the other is a lever applying pressure to the slides by means of an adjustable brass pad. As with the trumpet’s tool, the handle is adapted to remove the remaining smaller slides.
Tools for Serving an Orchestra

The tools presented in this collection focus on the brass section; this section of the orchestra presents a number of instances where apt tools are necessary but absent. One of the most commonly neglected prerequisites of a brass musical instrument is the lubrication that greases the slides that enable it to be tuned. The tools shown here are used to remove these tuning slides when lubrication has not been regularly or sufficiently applied, leading to the slides becoming stuck. For both amateur and profesional players this all too common problem mostly resulting in costly and time consuming trips to repair shops. The tools offered here empower musicians to service and repair their own instruments, keeping performers in constant contact with their most prized possession and primary money making device
