About

Tom Jarvis is a graduate from the Royal College of Art and winner of the Conran Award for design 2011.

His design approach is focused on researching; designing and making objects that fulfill real needs. His work often focuses on identifying incidences where apt solutions are necessary but absent and tailoring considered answers to areas in need of attention. He believes that design stretches far beyond veneering layers of form onto the products of engineering; he strives for a more holistic approach to design, combining extensive research with meticulous experiment to create designed solutions that reflect his empirical findings.

Some of his previous projects include a two-part water based time keeping device, an intuitive strategy board game and food packaging. Tom was also nominated for the Helen Hamlyn Award for inclusive design 2011 and he is a keen contributor to the discourse surrounding his profession.
